It’s the time of the year where we celebrate the most important male figure in our lives – our fathers. With Father’s Day just around the corner, we are here to set you up for success as you plan for it, with activities and gift ideas that you can use to create a memorable day for your dad.

Making everlasting memories with activities

Sometimes, the greatest gift is spending time with those we love. First up on our list, whipping up a delicious feast with your family is always a good bonding experience. You can either make this meal for your dad or together with him. Some ideas to consider are serving him breakfast in bed or replicating his favourite dinner dish.

Another great way to celebrate Father’s day is to have a game night. Some favourites you can include in your game night are Pictionary, Monopoly and Charades. However, you do not have to limit yourself to board games. You may even want to try video games too, if you have them at home, such as Nintendo Switch or Playstation!

Gifts handmade from the heart

There is one gift that you can never go wrong with– a heartfelt card. Express your creativity in thanking your dad through drawings and pictures. Here are some tips that you may want to consider when crafting your card:

  1. Write a meaningful message. If you want something more sentimental than just, “Happy Father’s Day”, you can express your love and gratitude for all he has done for you and your family.
  2. Remember to play around with colours. Experiment with colour pencils, markers and highlighters, to spice up your sweet message. Explore different colour combinations to craft your calligraphy or add shadows to your letters to make them stand out. Let your imagination run wild when drawing anything that reminds you of your dad.
  3. Use Ribbons. With a hole puncher, you can consider punching a hole at the top corner of your card so that you can tie a ribbon through it. The bow you laced up will add a beautiful touch alongside your vibrant card.

Something else you can consider is decorating and personalising a picture frame. Having your plain picture frame ready, you can glue any decorations you like along the frames borders. For example, attach buttons, small pebbles, ribbons, washi tape or anything small and meaningful to you. Once decorated, slot a photo of your choice inside, and you are good to go!

Ready-made gifts

If you’re pressed for time and need something on the go, here are some great gifts for you to choose from:

  1. Custom-made. Fathers prefer something practical that they can use on a day to day basis. Whether it’s a design you created or adding your father’s name to the gift, personalise his essentials such as Airpod cases, wallets, and notebooks. By customising your gifts, it shows that you went above and beyond, putting your heart and soul into creating his gift.
  2. Clothes. Some dads might not have the most up-to-date clothing because they are always prioritising the family’s needs above their own. Especially so, you can make use of this special occasion to bring your father on a shopping spree and give him a memorable makeover!
  3. Fandom merchandise. When it comes to Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Harry Potter or other huge fandoms, some of our dads go crazy over them. Knowing which character(s) he loves, you can gift him themed mugs, clothing, water bottles or even cufflinks. If you want to go all out, put them all together in a package! Your dad would feel touched that you know him so well.

We hope that these tips will help make your Father’s Day extra special for your Dad. Let’s make use of this occasion to show some love and honour to our fathers!
