A Beginner’s Guide to Vintage Fashion

Written by Tan Yue Tong & Charlotte Goh

Clothing styles are constantly evolving and it has gone through many changes in the past. From animal prints, polka dots and pleats to maxi, midi and mini…you name it, fashion has probably done it. Despite the ever-changing fashion trends, vintage clothing has made a comeback among the Gen-Zs. For those who are unfamiliar with the term “vintage clothing”, it is defined as clothing from past eras.

You might be wondering, “What is so exciting about buying second-hand clothing?”

Firstly, it is a more environmentally sustainable way to shop for clothes compared to going to a retail store. Purchasing vintage apparel is basically recycling used apparel and increasing its lifespan, helping to reduce waste. On top of that, vintage clothing is usually one of a kind. This means that you will never end up in an awkward situation where you bump into someone wearing the same outfit as you. And the best part? Purchasing clothes at a vintage store is usually cheaper than their original price at a retail outlet.

If you are adventurous and want to experience a blast from the past, you can explore these vintage stores listed below!
