If you ever had trouble deciding where to go to take your breathtaking Instagram photos, this article will do just the job for you! Narrowing your range of choices, here are the top 5 places you should go to in Singapore to take wonderful photos of yourself for your Instagram feed.

1. National Gallery Singapore

National Art Gallery is an art institution in Singapore with its splendid collection of Southeast Asian modern art, as well as its breathtaking architectural design. With a good balance of modern architecture and heritage, National Gallery Singapore is one of the best places to go to if you want to have an Instagram-worthy picture taken!

Representing Singapore’s past and present, National Gallery Singapore serves looks in terms of visual arts and historical heritage. With its exhibitions changing from time to time to keep things interesting, one of their more famous exhibitions like “Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow” in 2017 was a booming success featuring over 120 works.

Current exhibitions such as “Between Declaration and Dreams: Art of Southeast Asia since the 19th Century” and “Outbound” provide a perfect setting for you to take your Instagram photos. The best part? It is absolutely free of charge with no entrance fee for Singaporeans and PRs! So what are you waiting for? Call up your friends and visit National Gallery Singapore!

2. Street Art at Haji Lane

Haji Lane is located close to the downtown area of Singapore. With everything from street art to wall murals across the famous street,  you can spend hours trying to find the perfect Instagram-worthy shot.

Be prepared to wait in line as this outdoor gallery is definitely one of tourist’s favourite spots. In addition to its painted walls, Haji Lane also offers you a taste of Singapore’s culture. This laneway has been praised by many for its rich diversity of Indian cuisines and Muslim clothing stores. Ranging from Hijab to Burqas, this is the perfect spot for shopaholics. Remember to keep a lookout for these food stalls and clothing shops as they can be found along the main roads!

Other than its lively pubs and cozy cafes, many of Singapore’s local stores can be found here. From vintage clothing to accessories, Haji Lane is definitely one of those nostalgic places!

4. CHIJMES

The historic building complex first started out as a church and Catholic school. Nowadays, you can visit CHIJMES (pronounced ‘chimes’) to relax, have a good meal with your loved ones, and take some pictures! Ranging from Mexican to Japanese, you may find a good restaurant to dine-in.

There are too many good Instagram-worthy spots in this beautiful complex; like the swings and bean bags for everyone to sit at. Looking for someplace more romantic? Or just a beautiful white background? Our suggestion is the entry and the white hallway located inside.

5. Jewel Changi Airport

The Jewel Changi Airport is the new tourist and photo hotspot. However, it is a popular spot among Singaporeans too! Opened in 2019, the mall is conveniently linked with the 3 airport terminals. This means that Jewel Changi Airport is accessible to all tourists regardless of which terminal they are departing/arriving from.

The Rain Vortex, which is the indoor waterfall, is the best photo-taking spot in Jewel. The waterfall can be seen from all stories of the mall. Our suggestion is to take photographs on the first floor. You will be able to view the waterfall up close when you walk through the Shiseido Forest Valley. However, you can also try taking a couple of shots from the different levels as they all provide a different perspective.
